Kitchen in a Trapezoid Room

Client: Desta
Location: Mataram, Lombok

Interior Contractor: WK Interior

The advantage of custom furniture is that custom products can be put into space where mass products can not fit into. This project is such a good example.

Summary: Drawing plan & photos

PROBLEM
The shape of the room is isosceles trapezoid. I managed to set the cabinet towards the tilted wall.

The core key is the kitchen's corner as the joint of two cabinets. I designed the corner table 20 cm higher than the counter top. The idea is I would like to manipulate the visual, let's say I attempted to create a visual effect to reduce the sense of  room shape which is irregular.

Secret Wardrobe Area

Location: Mataram
Client: Michael

My client needs a secret room in his bedroom.
The problem is: I have to design connecting door which is camouflage.

As you can see the drawing plan above, the idea is to hide the wardrobe room using two sliding doors as entrance. So when you open the first door, you will find a small storage for suitcases and clothes.

Home Office

Client: Heru Sutrisna
Location: Mataram City, Lombok Island

DATA & LAYOUT
My client needs an office in his home which is capable of accommodating work-activity. This office is located in the front area of his house. This office will provide equipment such as:
- CCTV
- Modem
- Telephone
- Battery Charger
- Computer
- Printer
- Archive storage
- Key storage

As you can see on the layout plan above, my plan is to design a computer-desk and a big storage with power outlet on both furniture.

PROBLEM
To accommodate the equipment/ gadget, the furniture must provide power outlet. Therefore, cable installation is the main problem. Cable must be installed inside the furniture otherwise the room will get messy.

The picture above is CCTV and internet cable. All will be hidden and installed on the storage.

PROBLEM SOLVING | COMPUTER DESK
This computer desk is facilitated with power outlet and a box to save printer cable. You can see the detail below:

As you can see, the computer desk is connected to the cabinet so the printer can be placed in the storage instead of on the desk. Following are the detail images of how this desk works:

THE CABINET
The function of this cabinet is to save archives, books, keys and also to save laptop or hand phone while charging.

An Idea to Put Water Dispenser in the Kitchen

Client: Mrs. Suendar
Location: Lingkar Pratama, Mataram, Lombok Island

In this project, my objection is to create a simple kitchen in small dinning area. The problem is: the space is so small that somewhat difficult to manage the location of fridge and especially water dispenser.
The idea is to put the water dispenser right beneath the mini bar. As you can see in the picture above, I suggest my client to use an emerging product of water dispenser with the water-gallon underneath.

About Pantry and Kitchen

Sometimes we get confused of the difference between kitchen and pantry. According to Wikipedia, kitchen is a room or part of a room used for cooking and food preparation. Pantry is a room where food provisions, dishes, or linens are stored and served in an ancillary capacity to the kitchen. In my words, kitchen is for cooking raw food; pantry is place for food to place before getting served onto the dinning table.

Following image is a sample of my pantry design. Simply click on it to enlarge.

In the past time, within Asia home style, kitchen was mostly located at rear because cooking activity was categorized as a private activity. Nowadays, especially in urban style, cooking is not a private activity anymore. People tend to show what they cook. It is like how BreadTalk, in which people can directly see the bread making process. The company would like to convince their consumers that the bread is being cooked properly in a clean kitchen.

However, many people still tend to divide cooking area into kitchen and pantry.

SMALL BUT SWEET HOME LIVING

Client: Mrs. Lia
Location: Graha Majapahit, Mataram, NTB
Designer: Panglima Erlangga

Contractor: WK Interior

The idea is to create small budget home interior decoration within a small house. I decided to create furniture which is inexpensive to create. Thus I applied wood-working looks alike furniture using plywood layered by High Laminated Pressure (HPL). I chose two prominent HPL with Walnut textures.

Problem
The Indonesian style of home-living interior, conventionally, is that there are two living rooms available. First one is as a lounge for hosting guests. The second one  is as common room for family. Thus actually if you say Living Room, that refers to a lounge for Guests.
According to the culture I've elaborated early, It was no chance to create two living rooms. Thus I design a common room suitable for guests and family. That is why the title of this project named: Small And Sweet Home Living.

Elegant Modern-Classic

Client: Iptu Danu Anindito
Location: Polres Lombok Barat, Mataram, NTB, Lombok
Interior Contractor: WK Interior
Interior Designer: Panglima Erlangga

Layout
My Client is a Head Police Officer of Traffic Department. His office is getting located in a big space but separated from the stuff area. According to the discussion with my Client, we have decided the location of his room. Later on, this decision would have changed into another location. You will get it easily when read The Budget & Altered Design. So here is the layout of the room.

As you can see on illustration above, the room is divided into two areas: Lounge and Work Desk Area.

Concept
I decided to make it semi-classic. Thus, I designed the Work Desk Area a little bit classic. What came up on my mind about classic was ornament. I thought that's the easiest way to reach the Classic outlook.

The good thing (or bad one?) about Interior Design is that the result might be different with the design. It depends on various things. In this case, the material is the prominent cause. The wallpaper I applied into design was getting run out. Thus I had to choose another pattern to apply. Wood textures were not same as the design illustration either. However, the concept is still same. The bright and darker wood texture applied on the desk is in accordance with the visual illustration. Here is the Photo taken:

Budget Problem & Altered Design
Initially I offered a design which was too expensive for the Client to make it real. I designed the lounge with big size of TV Panel in Lounge Area.

And for the Working Area, I created a desk with a big storage behind. You can see on an illustration below.

As my client got worried about the budget, I altered the design in accordance with his budget. Thus I made a bit tweak by reducing the size and choosing another material behind the desk. I chose gypsum board in order to create the wall panel behind the desk instead of a cupboard.

As you can see on illustration above, there is a door besides the TV Panel. The door "appears" as I changed the placement of the room (as I said in first paragraph, isn't it?), still in same size though.

Summary
Below is the picture compilation depicting the Design Summary.

ELMA'S HOUSE

Client: Dr Elma
Location: Garden View Residence, Mataram, NTB, Lombok
Interior Contractor: WK Interior
Interior Designer: Panglima Erlangga
3D Illustration: Panglima Erlangga

This house is a modern house located in the center of Mataram city. The owner is a young doctor who is going to get married soon.
This is a house that comprises three bedrooms. The company I work in has been ordered to design the whole interior except bathrooms and one bedroom.

Layout Design
I divided room into several areas including: Living Room for guests, Family room (TV Room), Dinning Area and Bedrooms.

Living Room
The main concept is Contemporary Style. I would like to input classical sense into the living room without leaving the minimalism impression. Sometimes less is getting bored, isn't it?

Family Room
This is a place where the family could mingle up. I designed TV panel which has multifunction. The idea is about efficiency. I was getting concerned about how to create a space for family to link up together, enjoying the TV show especially on Sunday.

Master Bedroom
I applied the minimalism style into this bedroom. Wood texture has been played around. This combination of wood-textures coming from HPL (High Pressure Laminated) has emitted "simple but sweet" looking.

DIAN'S HOUSE

Client: Dr Dian
Location: Mataram, NTB, Lombok
Interior Contractor: WK Interior
Interior Designer: Panglima Erlangga
3D Illustration: Panglima Erlangga

During this project, I designed dinning area, kid's room and master bedroom.

Dinning Area
The dinning area comprises kitchen and dinning table. Let me elaborate the concept: I attempted to create so fancy dinning area that is supposed to be suitable for public commercial space, rather than in a house.

As you can see on picture above, there is wall covered with red wallpaper with book shelves installed on it. The room behind that wall is living room. There is split level between living room and dinning area so people in living room is able to view the whole area behind the wall.

Kid's Room
Red, green and white have sent us to Italy. The thing is that it's not only Italy flag comprising those colors. Mexico has them too.

Master Bedroom
The concept is modern classic. The way I apply the concept is to input ornaments into modern-minimalism interior style.

VESPA

I used Autodesk Maya for modelling then Mental Ray for rendering out this vespa.
